Coulas Insurance Ltd.

Coulas Insurance Ltd. is a Canadian insurance and financial-services company based in Ottawa. It builds custom insurance and financial plans for business owners, incorporated professionals and families. The firm is independent: no bank and no insurance company owns or controls it. The line it puts across the top of its own site reads "Bespoke insurance and financial solutions for businesses, individuals and families."

The work falls into three parts. For employers there are group benefits — group health coverage for medical, dental and vision, group retirement plans such as group RRSPs and pensions, and health care spending accounts. For households there is personal insurance — life, disability, critical illness, long term care and mortgage insurance. And there is the investment side — RRSPs, RRIFs, RESPs, TFSAs and annuities, alongside retirement, estate and succession planning. Being independent advisors, they say, lets them pick the benefits provider that suits a given business.

Three people are named on the company's About page. Nadiya Sakhno, BA (Hons.), QAFP, is President and Insurance & Financial Advisor, and the UCPBA Ottawa directory lists her as the owner. She holds an Honours Bachelor from the East European University of Economics and Management, a mutual funds licence through the Investment Funds Institute of Canada and a life insurance licence obtained through the Canadian Securities Institute. Marty Coulas, CLU, is Vice President; the page says he has been advising clients on the design and funding of employee benefits, group insurance and group retirement plans for more than 30 years. Samuel Ileka-Priouzeau, M.Sc., is Director of Client Services, holds a Level 2 Mortgage Agent certification from the Real Estate and Mortgage Institute of Canada, and is fully bilingual.

The firm has been around a long while. An archived copy of its website from February 2010 carries the older name Marty Coulas Insurance Agency Limited and says that personal service had been its hallmark for over thirty years. On the current site, the controller of MED2020 Health Care Software writes that Coulas Insurance has been their broker for more than 20 years.

Coulas Insurance is listed in the business directory of the Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Association of Ottawa, where the description says it serves business owners, families and professionals in Ottawa and the Ottawa area. UAFest lists the firm as a 2025 partner and Community Sponsor, with Nadiya Sakhno as its representative. The office is at 78 George Street, suite 204, Ottawa, and the telephone published on the site is 613-599-4070.
