About

Lakomka International Deli has been at 1127 Baxter Road in Ottawa since 1998 — "Proudly serving Ottawa since 1998", as the shop puts it. Nearly three decades in one place is its own kind of credential in a city where specialty food shops come and go.

The counter carries food imported from more than twenty European countries, Ukraine, Lithuania and Estonia among them: caviar and smoked fish, deli meats and salamis, artisan bread, perogies and pelmeni, teas and chocolates. Some of it is made in the shop — the kapusta is Lakomka's own, made without preservatives or chemicals, from entirely organic ingredients.

For UAFest 2026 the deli gave the festival 200 litres of kvass. The request came from the festival's volunteer coordinator on 8 September; the shop said yes, and the drink that half the visitors will be holding on 13 September comes from Baxter Road.
