Misha Lytvynyuk Photography

Misha Lytvynyuk Photography is the photography business of Mykhaylo “Misha” Lytvynyuk in Ottawa, Ontario. His site runs under the name EctarPhoto — the page title reads “EctarPhoto – Mykhaylo Lytvynyuk Photography” — and his Facebook business page is titled “Misha Lytvynyuk Photography | Ottawa ON”. He introduces himself on the site in one line: “I’m Mykhaylo Lytvynyuk, the photographer.”

He tells his own story as a list. He writes that he was born with a camera and always kept one in his student’s backpack; that he started early on as a class photographer and then worked properly as a fashion photographer in a modelling agency; and that he brought his gear to Canada and decided he was staying, because it is “too beautiful to leave”. He also describes himself as an active member and photographer of the Ukrainian community.

On the same page he lists what he has done since: hundreds of weddings photographed, work featured in a National Geographic book and magazine and in Canadian Geographic magazines, and a Canadian Geographic photographer of the year award in landscape photography in 2012. Those credits come from his own About page.

His work for the Ukrainian community in Ottawa is on record elsewhere. The Ukrainian World Congress ran his photograph of the Ottawa demonstration in support of Ukraine in its March 2022 report on the #NoFlyZone rallies, credited “Photo: Misha Lytvynyuk”. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress — Ottawa Branch thanked Misha Lytvynyuk Photography among the photographers and videographers of its Vyshyvanka Eve fundraiser for children. One of the photographs in the slider on the Capital Ukrainian Festival home page carries the credit “Photo Credit: Misha Lytvynyuk”. His business is listed in the UCPBA Ottawa business directory, with Misha Lytvynyuk as owner.

Today the site puts two things forward: weddings and family. For weddings he writes that a love story deserves to be remembered exactly as it felt, and that he captures every glance and every joyful moment; for family and kids he promises relaxed, unposed sessions, “because the best photos aren’t posed — they’re felt”.
