UA Ottawa

UA Ottawa is an information channel for Ukrainians in Canada's capital. In its own words on YouTube, it is "a channel created to help, adapt and communicate with Ukrainians in the city of Ottawa", covering emigration and adaptation for people who have already moved to Ottawa and for those still planning the move. The channel opened on 27 March 2023.

It is the Ottawa side of UA CANADA, an information portal that describes itself as a joint association of Ukrainian communities in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Regina and Saskatoon, Halifax and the Atlantic provinces. Its line is "From Ukrainians to Ukrainians". The website ua-canada.ca sorts what a newcomer needs into immigration, work, transport, benefits, finance, taxes and business, medicine, education and housing, and adds news, city event listings and a classifieds section.

Much of the work happens live. They run webinars with specialists and publish the recordings on the channel: immigration consultants on CUAET and the road to permanent residence, sessions on the Canadian tax system and the personal tax return, a mortgage professional on borrowing, and licensed realtors on renting and buying in Ottawa, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. The site also carries a request form for document translation and a registration form for the next webinar.

Telegram carries the daily conversation. The Ottawa chat, "UA Ottawa — Ми в Оттаві", had 4,862 members in early September 2026, and the Canada-wide UA CANADA channel had 14,326 subscribers; the YouTube channel stood at about 8,400 subscribers across 147 videos. Beside the guides they also organise gatherings — "BBQ in the Park" in Ottawa in May 2025, then a second one in Montreal on 25 May 2025.

The festival connection began in August 2024, when the channel published a conversation with one of the organisers of Ukrainian Fest Lanark County about the festival's purpose, the difficulties the team was facing and how they saw its future. That October it filmed the "Column of Strength" car convoy travelling from Ottawa to the festival in Carleton Place, and thanked the organisers on camera for the atmosphere they had built. UAFest lists UA Ottawa among the partners who backed the 2024 festival.
