Anna Kuprieieva

Anna Kuprieieva is the principal lawyer at Solvis Law, a firm on the second floor at 889 Bank Street, Suite 201 C in Ottawa. Her own profile page lists her as a Barrister & Solicitor holding Law Society of Ontario licence No. 84588Q, and the UCPBA Ottawa business directory lists her as the owner of Solvis Law Professional Corp. Her practice, as she describes it, is advising individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations on corporate structuring, governance and cross-border legal matters.

Her work covers three areas. In business and corporate law she guides clients through the whole life of a company — incorporation and structuring, share and asset purchase transactions, governance and restructuring, regulatory and commercial advice — and she offers what the firm calls "external general counsel" support. That corporate work extends to not-for-profit and charity law, where she helps organizations build governance frameworks and stay compliant. In immigration she handles permanent residence through Express Entry, provincial nominee programs and family sponsorship, work, study and visitor permits, humanitarian and compassionate applications and inadmissibility matters, and she appears before the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court of Canada. She also acts on residential and commercial real estate purchases, sales and refinancing, and she is a duly appointed Notary Public for the Province of Ontario.

She began practising in Ukraine, where she was called to the Bar in 2008 and worked as in-house counsel for a large energy and oil and gas group. After moving to Canada she completed a two-year master's programme in international trade and investment law at the University of Ottawa, served as a Parliamentary Assistant at the Parliament of Canada through the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Program, and took part as a research member in the UN Free Trade Agreement Assessment Project under the United Nations Committee on Trade and Development. She later earned a Global Professional LLM from the University of Toronto and articled with the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario. She belongs to the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association and the Ukrainian Canadian Bar Association.

Outside the practice she is an executive member and chair of the Governance Committee at the Ukrainian Canadian Bar Association, sits on the steering committee of the Ukrainian Canadian Foundation and the advisory committee at Access Employment, and previously served as a pro bono lawyer at the Catholic Centre for Immigrants and as president of the UCC Ontario Provincial Council. She speaks often on the law that Ukrainians in Canada actually run into: temporary-to-permanent residency at the Ontario Bar Association in January 2026, organizational governance at the XXVIII Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians in November 2025, exporting to Canada under the updated CUFTA for Ukraine's Export Promotion Office, and the legal basics of starting a business for the Ukrainian Business Network's Ottawa branch.
