Solvis Law

Solvis Law is a boutique law firm in Ottawa, working from an office at 889 Bank Street. The firm describes its own approach as big-firm standards carried out with the attention of a small practice, and puts three promises on its front page: partner-level support, a transparent billing structure and individual attention.

The practice sits on four legs — corporate and commercial law, immigration, real estate and litigation. Business clients come for provincial and federal incorporation, shareholder and partnership agreements, the purchase or sale of a business, corporate governance and minute-book upkeep, and not-for-profit and charity law. The real estate team acts on purchases, sales and refinancing anywhere in Ontario, with signing appointments either in person at the Ottawa office or by secure video.

Immigration work runs from visitor visas through work and study permits to permanent residence, family sponsorship and citizenship, and includes humanitarian and compassionate applications and refused files. The firm represents clients before the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court of Canada, and prices most immigration services at a flat fee rather than by the hour. On the litigation side it handles contract and shareholder disputes, real estate litigation, debt recovery and judicial review.

The firm is led by its principal lawyer, Anna Kuprieieva. She was called to the Bar in Ukraine in 2008 and worked as in-house counsel for a large energy and oil and gas group, then studied at the University of Ottawa — where she served as a parliamentary assistant through the Canada–Ukraine Parliamentary Program — and later took a Global Professional LLM at the University of Toronto. She is a Notary Public for Ontario and chairs the governance committee of the Ukrainian Canadian Bar Association. Four colleagues are named on the firm's About page: a senior law clerk, a law clerk, an immigration law clerk and a case manager.

Solvis Law publishes its site in English and Ukrainian, and a good part of its writing is aimed at Ukrainians settling in Canada — work permits under the Canada–Ukraine Free Trade Agreement, the temporary-to-permanent residence pathway, Ontario's non-resident speculation tax. Its notary price list includes a power of attorney for use in Ukraine, with the Ukrainian translation included. The firm backed UA FEST in 2025.
